3rd Battalion, 3rd Marines Memorial Foundation

Marines and Sailors of 3/3--

The purpose of this site is to raise money for a memorial to honor America's Battalion in the Memorial Park of the National Museum of the Marine Corps. The memorial will recognize the service of past, present and future members of 3/3.

We have been in touch with two professional designers and will need $200,000+ for a suitable memorial.

Here is how you can help:
1. Be as generous as you can and make a contribution to the fund. We have formed a 501-C-19 corporation which means that all contributions are tax deductible.
2. Pass the word to others and ask them to make a contribution and, also, to check our progress but signing on to this blog.
3. Please submit any ideas you might have on fundraising.

Our treasurer, Mike Harrington, will post the progress of our fundraising efforts from time to time on this blog. Dave Tucker, our secretary, will keep us advised of administrative matters. Doc Hoppy, whose efforts in getting out the word by email and snail mail have been heroic, will keep us informed of any new developments. I will post submissions from the memorial designers for comment. Corporal Justin Palmer, who is currently on active duty with the battalion in Afghanistan has done a remarkable job of putting together a history of 3/3 on Wikipedia. I urge you all to read it. Cpl Palmer is very busy with his normal duties right now but has promised to continue work on our history when his current deployment is over.

This is a chance for you to demonstrate your commitment to Semper Fidelis, to our Corps and to our battalion.

Otto Lehrack, 3/3 1967-68
President, 3/3 Memorial Foundation

  1. Well it looks like I am the first one here so I want to welcome everyone else aboard. We will try to use this BLOG for suggestions, to answer questions and keep everyone updated on what is going on. We started notifying all of the Marines from America's Battalion April 21st and we have notified about 5,500 by email or sending out our brochures. As of July 6th, we have $9,612.05 in our account. This group is primarily Vietnam era Marines but also includes pre Vietnam and some post Vietnam Marines, we also contacted the Stormey Sexton group and we appreciate what all of them are doing. For other information, we have a web page at . If you know of people that we should contact, let us know.

  2. I feel your over looked a segment of the 3/3 family
Is this a Viet Nam Memorial or BN memorial?
There's been a couple of more conflcts and potentially more would participate if we had equal representation
